TRANSITION:

(K-2) Identify a short term goal and determine whether the goal is under their control or someone else's control.


(3-5) Describe why learning is important in achieving personal goals.


Elementary strategies:

Students at this age have a hard time seeing "the forest through the trees". When they set goals, they may not realize how much control they have over the outcome. Have them write it down, putting words to a goal make it more achievable for the student, and gives you a better understanding of how to support your students.
