MIX IT UP! When you are working with the kids, do you notice that they tend to gravitate towards the same groups? Totally normal, we all do it! As the student leader, see if you can incorporate cooperative games to stress collaboration instead of competition and mesh some of the groups together! (see guidebook for ideas)
